During the last 2½ years, we have interviewed and tape-recorded the life stories of individuals between the ages of 88 and 104. They honestly and eagerly have shared unique insights on a myriad of subjects, offering priceless wisdom that could affect generations to come. The interviewees shared inspiring quotes, their strong spiritual beliefs, their advice to the younger generation of today, and how they all were deeply touched by friendship, poetry, music, or nature. The essence of Listen to the Wisest of All is to illustrate life through the retelling of the experiences of the many seniors we have interviewed. Their stories were gathered into vignettes that reveal the deeper nuances of life, love, and the passions that gave meaning to their lives. Each chapter is dedicated to one person and one couple.

To accompany these thoughtful and inspiring stories are beautiful black-and-white photographs of these men and women. The photographs capture their dignity and radiate with the wisdom that comes only from being fortunate enough to have lived a long life. At the end of our book, we have provided an opportunity for our readers to record their own legacies to people that have been significant to them—whether it be children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, or special friends. It is our hope that readers will be touched by some particular aspect of the stories that are shared and that the experience will benefit and enrich your lives.
